Katie Kitchen, Voice
Katie Kitchen is a versatile vocalist and educator whose work spans classical, baroque, jazz, and contemporary styles. A native of northwest Ohio, she began performing at an early age with regional theaters such as Fort Findlay Playhouse, Marathon Performing Arts Center, and Amil-Tellers Encore. She has since cultivated a career that bridges performance and pedagogy.
Katie’s teaching combines modern vocal science with the foundational principles of bel canto technique. She sees teaching lessons as a space for both musical and personal discovery—helping students find their unique voice while supporting healthy, sustainable vocal function. Her approach is diagnostic, student-centered, and adaptable across genres, designed to empower singers to express themselves with freedom and authenticity.
As a performer, Katie is a four-time recipient of the Shari Bierman Fellowship Scholarship with The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, with whom she has appeared in major works including John Adams’s El Niño and Eric Whitacre’s The Sacred Veil. Through this fellowship, she presented a solo recital at Severance Hall. She has also completed young artist programs in New York and performed in Purcell’s The Fairy Queen as part of the Baroque Opera Workshop at Queens College. In addition to her classical work, Katie performs jazz and contemporary repertoire throughout the Cleveland area.
Katie did her Bachelor of Music studies in Vocal Performance at Cleveland State University, where she is currently working toward her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance, as well. While at CSU, she has studied with Amanda Powell, Dr. Cynthia Skelley-Wohlschlager, Dr. Nicholas Klein, and Dr. Eileen Moore.
