Jackie Wood, Flute

Jacqueline often tells people “I have the best job in the world. I get to teach the instrument I love!” Jacqueline received her bachelor's degree in music education from Baldwin Wallace University. She went on to receive a master’s in flute performance from Cleveland State University, studying under Sean Gabriel, principal flutist of the Blue Water Symphony.

Jacqueline is on the faculty at Cleveland State University where she teaches applied flute, and she has one of the largest numbers of flute students in the Cleveland metro area. Her teaching philosophy is that all students, regardless of age, skill level, or background, deserve the chance to learn the art of music making; she prides herself on her ability to foster confidence, musicality, and growth in every student she works with.

She is Principal Flutist with the Cleveland Women’s Orchestra and plays with the Cleveland Opera Company and the Cleveland Philharmonic. She also has played flute and piccolo with Near West Theatre as a member of their pit orchestra and continues to perform as both an ensemble member and a soloist throughout the Cleveland area.

“Our daughter is loving flute lessons and loves Jackie! We are so happy and love Jackie! We hear her getting better everyday and is progressing so well.”
