Carlo Balmoria, Piano

Pianist, composer, and educator Carlo Balmoria is dedicated to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment for students of all ages and levels. With several years of teaching experience, including certification to teach students ages 4-7, Carlo is deeply invested in fostering a strong, lasting relationship with music. He tailors each lesson to his students' individual needs and interests, encouraging creativity and exploration with a special emphasis on healthy, tension-free technique.

Carlo began studying piano at age 13 and has performed extensively across the United States and Europe as a soloist and chamber musician, with recent appearances at the Gijon International Piano Festival, Malaga International Piano Festival, and the Brevard Music Center. As a composer, he has written original scores for numerous short films, bringing a broad and creative perspective to his teaching. Recent collaborations include ‘Night Hawks’ (dir. Hailey Ng – New York University) and ‘Falling Leaves’ (dir. Ocean Bruinius – Boston University).

Carlo holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Boston University, where he studied piano with Andrius Žlabys and historical performance with Peter Sykes. In 2026, he was named the grand prize winner of the prestigious Kahn Career Entry Award which supports his dynamic work as an educator and performer, including an upcoming lecture-recital series intended for assisted living facilities throughout Ohio. He currently studies privately with José Ramón Méndez, piano faculty at Oberlin Conservatory.
