Bill Ransom, Drums & Percussion
Bill Ransom is an internationally acclaimed drummer and percussionist whose dynamic, deeply personal style has taken him to some of the world’s most prestigious stages alongside legendary artists across jazz, R&B, blues, rock, and classical music. A versatile performer and dedicated educator, Bill combines real-world touring experience with formal musical training, holding a Bachelor of Music degree from Ohio University and a Master of Music degree from The New School.
Throughout his career, Bill has toured and recorded with acclaimed artists including Aretha Franklin, Patrice Rushen, Dianne Reeves, Najee, Gerald Levert, and Beth Hart, with whom he currently tours internationally. He was also the featured percussionist on Gerald LeVert’s debut solo album, Private Line. Bill directed “Jazz Meets Hip Hop” for the Tri-C JazzFest and has performed in theatrical productions including the world premiere of Love, Janis under the musical direction of Sam Andrew of Big Brother & the Holding Company.
An endorser for Yamaha Drums, Remo Drumheads, Vic Firth Sticks, Paiste Cymbals, and Toca Percussion, Bill has served on the faculty of Cleveland State University since 2007, teaching drums, percussion, and jazz combo.
