Bangjun Xia, Violin & Viola

Bangjun Xia began studying the violin at the age of four and made his orchestral debut at the age of nine. He served as concertmaster of the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China and has performed at major venues including the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, as well as concert halls throughout Asia and the United States.

A Gold Medalist of the 2nd Vera Anselmo Competition and First Prize winner of the 2020 Vivo International Competition, Bangjun is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studies with Sibbi Bernhardsson. He is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and The Juilliard School. His previous teachers include Lixin Chen, Xiao Wang, Lucie Robert, and Hyo Kang.

Bangjun is an active chamber musician and dedicated teacher. His teaching experience ranges from working with young beginners to mentoring pre-professional musicians, including students who have gone on to study at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege.
