Colombian-born Ariel David Londono has been teaching cello for 11 years. Ariel holds a bachelor’s degree in cello performance from the National Conservatory of the National University of Colombia. He holds both a master’s in chamber music from Kent State University, where he studied with the highly-acclaimed Miami String Quartet, and a master’s in cello performance (with a certificate in conducting) from Ohio University where he was in the studio of cellist Gabriel Prynn of the internationally-recognized Trio Fibonacci.

Ariel began his teaching at the Unamusica Foundation in Bogotá, Colombia where for three years he taught cello for Tocar y Luchar, a youth orchestra for under-served children based on the famed Venezuelan El Sistema. There he taught both private lessons and group lessons, as well as sectionals for orchestra rehearsals. He also taught at other schools in Colombia as well as in the U.S. at the Athens Community School in Athens, Ohio.

Ariel began his orchestral experience in his teen years with the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra’s Youth Philharmonic Orchestra. Later he played as an occasional member of the Colombian Symphony. In the U.S., he was a member of the Ohio Valley Symphony from 2017-2019. He has performed in numerous recitals as a chamber musician in Colombia and the U.S., most notably in the Garua Quintet which was devoted to the music of Piazzola, and he placed in chamber music competitions in Colombia. He has also performed numerous solo recitals in both Colombia and the U.S.

David is beyond patient and extremely encouraging. No matter how difficult the lesson seems, it is a positive experience for our son.”

David (Ariel) has been a great teacher. He adapts his teaching to my learning style, and thinks of creative and fun ways to explain new concepts. He has a relaxed and friendly attitude, and reminds me frequently that he’s here to help when I feel discouraged.”
