Samantha Loomis, Voice
Samantha Loomis received her Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance at Ohio Northern University, and a Master of Music degree in Voice Pedagogy from the University of Southern Maine where she studied under internationally acclaimed opera singer Dr. Malinda Haslett. Samantha has privately studied classical, musical theatre and jazz voice. During graduate school, Samantha spent her time teaching voice and piano to a full studio from ages 6 to 70 at the Gorham School of Music. She also taught undergraduate voice lessons as part of a voice teaching internship at the University of Southern Maine. Although she enjoys teaching at the high school and undergraduate level, Samantha specializes in teaching voice to young singers age 12 and under. Samantha believes that private voice lessons for young singers can be greatly beneficial in assisting singers through vocal changes and helping to prevent vocal injury later in life. She also believes that voice lessons with young students require a special approach, focusing on developing technique and musicianship through games, movement, and fun exercises aimed towards ear training, diction, release of tension, breath management and breath support, all to be applied to repertoire.
