Tyler Niemeyer, Drums
An Ohio native, Tyler Niemeyer received his Master of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music where he studied with Cleveland Orchestra principal musicians Paul Yancich and Richard Weiner, and received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
Tyler began teaching drums and percussion in 2009. He teaches an array of disciplines and styles from classical to rock, and is well versed in teaching drumset, marching percussion, world music, and concert repertoire. Tyler has given lessons and led rehearsals and coachings at various institutions, including the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra, Archbishop Moeller High School, and Wadsworth City Schools. He has experience in a wide array of educational settings, from teaching beginners who have never held a stick, to developing a marching percussion section and instructing students in orchestral repertoire, to coaching graduate and undergraduate students in collegiate percussion ensemble.
Tyler was appointed Principal Timpanist of the Mansfield Symphony Orchestra in 2017 and has appeared as Principal Timpanist with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Erie Philharmonic, Ohio Valley Symphony, and others. He has also performed extensively as a chamber musician and drumset player.
